What if you were put into the predicament of having to organize a dinner party on very short notice? If you have absolutely no way out of it, many people would consider ordering in a bunch of pizzas or Chinese take away dishes that can sit pretty in your china at home. But is that really a dinner party? If however, you have a few hours to go, and the grocery store trip will not take more than twenty minutes, here are some great and easy to make dishes that you can whip up in a jiffy!
The Five Minute Salad
You will need a salad. That is a must have component of pretty much every meal. In this case, you can get a little creative and a little elaborate to add to the fact that this is a special occasion. Get together washed and cleaned iceberg lettuce (even Romaine lettuce would do), arugula, rocket and spinach. Chop carrots and purple cabbage thinly and mix in with the greens. Add in halved cherry tomatoes and horse radish. Finally toss in a handful of instant noodles that has been cooked through and mix it all up with the fresh veggies and greens. It’s rather similar to a filling and balanced pasta salad and takes you only about five minutes to whip up.
The No-Dough Pizza
How about a homemade pizza? Too much trouble getting the dough right, letting it sit and baking for a long time? No worries, try out a no-dough pizza with the dough substituted by generous portions of cooked oriental instant noodles UAE instead. Spread the cooked noodles on a circular baking tray as the base and layer it with a topping of your choice. Chicken or seafood with a slight amount of spices and herbs would work the best. Spread sauce over the layer and add generous amounts of greens such as rocket finishing up with handfuls of mozzarella. Let the whole thing bake for about fifteen to twenty minutes since all the components are cooked anyway and serve as warm as possible.
The Turkish Antipasti Plate
This one is something that you can serve up as an appetizer and sometimes, if there is enough components in it, it could even become a full meal. Get a suitable plate or board and pile it up with a variety of cheeses such as pepper brier, blue, Gouda, Emmental and the likes. Add a few varieties of bread like rye, focaccia, sour dough and whole wheat. Next add olives, some salami, prosciutto and a couple varieties of ham and serve up as it is.
